What goes around comes around

For this project, we were asked to explore consumer electronics from the 2000s and bring one of their assets back to the present day, convincing people of its rediscovered potential. We chose a true childhood classic, the V-Tech Diary. Back then, it felt like the safest place in the world, a little vault that guarded your secrets. The story follows Uli, a twenty-year-old who lands an exciting new job. During a background check, she comes across an old MySpace account she wants to delete. The login details? Safely stored in her old V-Tech Diary. The problem? It doesn’t recognize her voice anymore, and the password is long forgotten. What once stood for safety and privacy now becomes a symbol of how technology can turn against us, showing how the tools that once protected us can just as easily lock us out. In collaboration with Avalon Verstappen, Ula-Mae Poll, Amelie Nagant & Paula Haid.
